Changed sites last evening since we love internet service. The view is about the same, we have very few neighbors, and I got some great pictures of the sunset on the water last evening.
This morning we went to Historic Charlottetown, the capital of PEI. We toured the exhibit center while we waited on our tour bus/boat. This is the 150th year celebration of PEI being part of Canada. We saw a show by the Mi'kmeq Indians who first inhabited this island in the 1500's. They first named the island Cradle since it is shaped like a cradle. The French took it over and called it St. John Island. We then took a Bus/Boat known as a LARC. First we toured the city highlights and then it went down this road to the water playing the Theme song from Gilligan's Island. We had a young tour guide named Brandon, and he looked a little like Gilligan, going to college here on the island for computer sciences. They had a lot of historic things going on it town. They have a Victoria Row which is closed off to vehicles, which has little cafe's outside. They even have a large Victoria Park in the center of town with a pool and activities for children. I had to catch the photo op of a park with my namesake! This island is old country, and as you travel across it, there are many dairy farms, fields of crop such as corn, hay and especially potatoes which grow well in this red/iron rich soil. It was a fun tour. The water was choppy and we got to see the town from the ocean. There is one inlet with Lighthouses on either side that we will explore by land in the next few days we have here.
