Beaufort, South Carolina

June 10-13, 2014
Arrived in  Beaufort to visit our good friends from Outdoor Resorts in Melbourne Beach, Dee and Ralph Huylar. They were so gracious to allow us to hook up next to their house.

Tuesday afternoon we visited Hunter Island Campground and Lighthouse. The beaches are beautiful here, and the breeze was heavenly. It is very hot in SC this time of year. I am hot flashing in overtime mode.
Posing in front of the lighthouse.
Beach walk around lighthouse.
Hunter Island Lighthouse.

On Wednesday we went into the historic town of Beaufort for a horse and carriage tour.
Beautiful gardens and flowers, love the colors.
Two old farts in a garden.

They have beautiful swings overlooking the channel in downtown Beaufort.
Our horse was Jim a 6 year old beauty.

Beaufort Arsenal from the civil war. They were the first to secede.
The original Baptist Church of the slaves here, and also where Forrest Gump was filmed in the church scene.
Mermaids are part of the folklore and history here.

Look at that tree! Beautiful.
Plantation House

Celebrity wall in The Chocolate Tree where Tom Hanks bought his box of chocolates for the movie Forrest Gump. No  trip is complete without chocolate!

Wild raccoon in the Huylar's backyard in the evenings.

We enjoyed Dee's fabulous gourmet cooking every evening for dinner, and watched the wildlife in their backyard.  What a fabulous stay. We are so blessed to have friends like this. Thank you Ralph and Dee.
