Hinsdale Campground for the 4th of July 2014

Nice site with gravel and lots of pine trees.

Traveled 177 miles to New Hampshire. Went through New York, Massachusetts, Connecticut, and Vermont, all in one day! Hinsdale sits in the corner of Vermont, New Hampshire and Massachusetts. The Hinsdale campground is rugged woods on top of the mountain. We have full hook-up with TV and a pool, but unfortunately no internet service.

Back of our site was complete with a fire pit and wood. Unfortunately it was in the 90's.

Nine holes of golf on the College Hill Golf Course of Vassar College

June 29, 2014 Nine holes of golf on the College Hill Golf Course

You guessed it, we golfed again with Ray and Marty at the College Hill Golf Course on the grounds of Vassar College.

Look out, Elwin has his red shirt on!

Some pretty steep fairways.

Golf at Midway Golf Course and Walk over the Hudson River

June 27 2014 Golf at Midway Golf Course

Golfed a lovely nine hole golf course in Poughkeepsie with Ray and Marty. We then walked on the Walkway over the Hudson. They created a walkway over the Hudson from an old railroad track. It is about 11/2 miles across one way. People were biking, walking and running it. Beautiful.

Some very steep holes.

Elwin resting after nine holes, and always ready for another 9.

Golfing in Poughkeepsie, NY

June 26, 2014
Went golfing today with Ray and Marty to Casperkill Golf Club in Poughkeepsie, NY. What a challenge! The course was long and hilly. We saw deer, turkeys, and ground hogs or beaver. What a wonderful day.

Had a wonderful dinner at Ray and Marty's house and a family of turkeys showed up in their backyard.
I've had alligators in my back yard, but turkeys? Funny how dinner shows up in your back yard when you live in New York.

Sylvan Lake, New York

24 June 2014
Sylvan Lake Campground

We arrived in Hopewell Junction next to Fishkill, New York at Sylvan Lake Campground. We had full hook-up without TV or Internet service. We were on top of a mountain so these things are sparse. I guess you could say we were roughing it! The campground was gravel and grass. Sylvan Lake was beautiful. There was plenty of deer and tics but the dogs are covered with their Preventic collars. We are spending time with our good friends Ray and Marty Gorenflo, so the site was the only close one to their house.

New Jersey

Traveled from Delaware to New Jersey via the NJ turnpike. Folks around here like to cut you off. Toll roads abound. Campground for the night was a Passport America priced, rustic, but very nice campground. The pool was refreshing. Another good day on the road.

Rustic, woodsy campground.

Nice pull-thru site for taking off to New York in the morning.

Clamming on Rehobath Bay

Today we went out on Gary & Chris's boat to go clamming. That sure was a fun experience. I stepped on a few horseshoe crabs and screamed, I can be so undignified! We get to eat our clams this evening. Clam chowder, steamed clams and fried clams. Yum, Yum. This is so fun.

Mr. Dillon in his finest attire.

Beautiful waterway to Rahobath Bay.

Vikki Clamming like a pro.

Lewes Delaware

19 June 2014

Went to Lewes, Delaware the first town in the first state of these United States. Saw the Lewes Ferry which takes small and large vehicles across the Delaware Bay. We were debating going by Ferry with our RV, so we scoped it out. We then went to the small town of Lewes and looked at the shops and history. Nice relaxing day with weather in the 80's.

Quaint shops.

Beautiful headstones around St Peter's Episcopal Church, the first church in the first town, in the first state.

St Peter's established in 1681.

Beautiful pipe organ.

18 June 2014
We arrived at the McQuate's house on Shady Lane. Gary helped us back our home on wheels into his driveway. Ahh, all the comforts of home. Their house is awesome! Chris and Gary made us feel right at home and even taught me about crabs and how to prepare them. Then of course we ate them,...mmm.

Home away from home.

Chris has such a lovely pond, makes me miss my fish.

Outdoor shower! Wow, sure love that.

Looks cruel, but sure is tasty in the end.

Chesapeake Bay Bridge Tunnel and Virginia Landing

17 June 2014

Today we drove to Virginia Landing via the Chesapeake Bay Bridge/tunnel. Wow, around 17 miles of bridge and two tunnels under water.
Chesapeake Bay Bridge
Chesapeake Bay Bridge Tunnel
The bridge ends and tunnel begins, so ships can go over tunnel. Phenomenal design and architecture.

We camped in Virginia Landing a Passport America campground that is on the Chesapeake Bay. The road going in was single lane and about 7 miles. We thought we were lost! The campground was nice, the pool was a quarter mile from the campground, but it was nice and cold so I could not resist taking a dip.
